Hiding in a little nook is a romantic restaurant that serves a variety of dishes. We tried many. My son tried the baked ravioli as a app and for a drink a Bailey's creme latte. He didn't realize it was alcoholic but it was fine. My son said he could definitely taste the alcohol. It was her first time making it. He was content with it . For apps I got the spinach artichoke dip with toasted bread . Hubbie and I shared this. You also get what looked like a loaf of bread with garlic oil? It was good ! On the house I think. It was alot for sure For our mains our Son got the pumpkin ravioli . It was homemade and light. Compared to the other mains it was a bit on the small side. I think it was just enough for my son though since he had an app. He got the mushroom soup as a side/ He ate it so he must have liked it. For our mains I got the chicken marsala (lunch portion) It was big enough with a big portion of meat and noodles. I couldn't eat it all. My husband got the smoked duck dish. Be aware it does have the skin on . He liked it that way me not so much. I liked it without the skin. It had a good flavor though. Not so fatty like duck can b. It was moist. It came with roasted root veggies. While we were happy to see real vegetables other than broccoli and green beans. It seemed they were microwaved. For our sides we got Mushroom soup for me and tomato basil soup for my husband. We both enjoyed them both. I will take soup over salad any day. We did get some tiramisu to go. I think if there was anything that we didn't like it was the sticker shock when we got the slice of tiramisu. It wasn't a slice it was a hunk and the price point was a bit too much. So I would suggest not getting desserts to go. The servings are way too much both in size and price. Lesson learned ok got it. Hopefully it will b divine and delicious . Altogether We had a nice, relaxing time. The food was pretty good and I was surprised at the variety of food they had. The waitress took care of the tables by herself. She was personable and she said she helped with the NEW menu. You did good:) The dishes we had we were pretty pleased with. (Maybe not the veggies but roasting properly takes a bit of time so We understand) Like I said the main reason we were not happy fully had to do with the price of the family size tiramisu (We just wanted two slices not a whole hunk. ) Other than mainly that We fully enjoyed our visit and my picky son-said He would come again. If he actually likes something different than you are an exception. Cause He really likes to eat the same things over and over. He gave his approval so We will eat here again and it's pretty close to where we live. I think I would give a 5 if the serving sizes on the desserts were a bit smaller and a bit cheaper to go. We plan on going back .

White lasagna and a piece of cake. Do it! Rest of the menu looks great, but I can't quit the white lasagna.

This is one of my man's favorite places in the Birmingham area having lived there for 16 years. It was a must for this trip. I read some of the less favourable reviews and had a little hesitation but of course we went anyway. Sorry for anybody who had a different experience than we did but our experience was 100%! The food was as great as he remembered and we left with plenty of food for at least another meal. He had the lasagna Blanca and a cup of tomato basil soup, SO delicious! Couldn't finish either. I had a side serving of the chop chop salad and still had to pack some to take home. Delicious. The complimentary bread and seasoned oil was also rich and tasty. I'd love to know the brand of olive oil and seasoning! Had to get the strawberry cake. It is huge! Yep, home it's going! We are planning how to eat everything before we fly out tomorrow! Our server Kaci was very attentive and sharp. Plenty of staff at the ready and a good assortment of guests without being over packed. If you like good Italian food in a lovely setting with good service, go to Joe's!
